At Wallan Primary School, we are committed to building a positive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued, motivated, and encouraged to do their best. One of the key ways we achieve this is through our school-wide positive reward system.
Our system is based on our Values Tickets, which students can earn by consistently showing our school values in the classroom, playground, and wider school community. These tickets provide immediate recognition of positive behaviours and help reinforce the culture we want to see across our school.
Students can then trade their tickets at Patch’s Pantry, a special place named after our attendance mascot, Patch. At the Pantry, students have the opportunity to choose from a range of prizes and experiences—such as lunch with a different class or even being “Teacher for a Day.” These rewards not only celebrate positive choices but also give students memorable and meaningful experiences.
Research shows that school-wide positive reward systems encourage students to make better choices, strengthen relationships between staff and students, and create a safer, happier school environment. At Wallan Primary, our Values Ticket system is an important part of ensuring every child feels acknowledged and excited about their learning journey.
